A Note About

The following lesson plans should always be implemented with differentiation strategies. Regardless of if there is a student with the challenges listed or not, the strategies in my differentiation plan are consistently implemented for all students in my classroom. Depending on the learning style of a student experiencing one of the following learning challenges, these strategies can of course be modified on an individual basis. It is imperative that all students are heard and provided with an education that is inclusive of everyone by design.

Differentiation

Art Activism

Lesson Plan

Students will advocate for things that matter to them by creating art. The topic they choose can be big or small, global or personal, in school or out of school. The project itself is purposefully open ended and students will be encouraged to work in medium(s) that suit them and their intended change.

Art is a Language:
Communication

Curriculum Plan

In this introductory level course, students are invited to critically examine the visually saturated world we inhabit while learning to be better makers within it. As students practice actively analyzing, responding to, creating, and presenting art- they will explore art's role in our understanding of ourselves, one another, and the world.

Art Is Visual Communication

ELA Interdisciplinary
Unit Plan

Art is a powerful tool for communication, and, like all forms of communication, there are strategies we can choose to use to make our message clearer. In this unit, students will explore how visual art and text can work together to support the overarching goal of a work.
